Delete your Bygmind account

This page applies to the Bygmind Mobile App and to accounts on bygmind.com, operated by Sören Heinzmann (Bygmind).

1. Delete your account inside the app

You can delete your Bygmind account at any time directly inside the app. The process requires an active internet connection:

  1. Open the Bygmind app and go to Settings.
  2. Scroll to the Account section and tap Delete Account.
  3. A warning screen explains the consequences of deletion. From there, you can choose "Export Data First" to back up your data before continuing.
  4. Tap "Continue to Delete".
  5. Enter your password to confirm, then tap "Delete My Account".
  6. After successful deletion you'll see a confirmation screen, and a confirmation email is sent to your registered email address.

2. Request deletion via the web (no app reinstall required)

If you no longer have the app installed, or prefer to request deletion in writing, please send us an email with the subject "Account deletion" to:

Please include the following information so we can identify your account:

  • The email address used to register your Bygmind account
  • Optional: your display name or account ID, if known
  • A short confirmation that you are requesting deletion

We will confirm receipt of your request and complete the deletion typically within 30 days. For security reasons, we may ask you to verify your identity (e.g. by confirming from the email address on file) before we proceed.

3. What happens during deletion

When your account is deleted, on the Bygmind platform we:

  • Remove your login access (you will no longer be able to sign in)
  • Remove you from all projects you participated in
  • Anonymize your contact data (name, profile, communication data)
  • Delete your uploaded files (voice notes, photos, documents, reports, transcripts, AI-generated content)
  • Delete device and session data linked to your account

4. Retention period and exceptions

After you confirm deletion, your data is retained for 30 days before being permanently removed. During this period you can contact us if the deletion was done in error.

Beyond that, we may retain certain data for a limited period when there is a legitimate reason to do so, in particular when legal obligations require it:

  • Accounting and tax records (e.g. invoices): retained as required by commercial and tax law (typically 6–10 years).
  • Security and abuse logs: limited log data retained as necessary for fraud prevention, abuse detection and the handling of security incidents.
  • Backups: data in routine backups is automatically overwritten as part of our backup rotation.

Retained data is used solely for these purposes and is deleted once the applicable retention period expires.

5. Before you delete

  • Cancel subscriptions: if you have a paid subscription, please cancel it first in the relevant app store (Google Play or App Store). Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an app-store subscription.
  • Export your data: the delete-account screen offers an "Export Data First" option (Settings → Export My Data). Save any reports or content locally before deletion becomes permanent.
  • Internet connection: account deletion requires an active internet connection so the request can be submitted to our server.

6. Delete individual data instead of the whole account
